Private practice: The dental hygienist predominantly works as a employee of a dentist or works as an independent dental hygienist sharing the office with a dentist. In a dental private practice, the dental hygienist can utilised all of the skills she has learned in school, like making terminal injections, radiographs, deep scaling and root planning etc..
Independent DH in own practice: In the canton Zurich and in some other cantons, the dental hygienist can work independently in a private practice. The health authorities reserve the right to regulate the treatments which the dental hygienist are allowed to perform in their private practice.
